RETRO, is a group of talented musicians who came together at the right time to create a sound that can only be called "A Unique Experience". RETRO is an Original Music Band.

RETRO has a repertoire that not only includes Original Music, we also do covers. Songs by such artists as Sade, Loose Ends, ACE, Amy Winehouse, Gap Band, Alanis Morrisette, Spinners, Parliament, Chic, Chuck Loeb, Rick James, Tina Marie, Patrice Rushen, Chaka Khan, and others.

Did you all grow up in Ohio? Everybody except Jackie, the lead singer, she grew up in Kentucky.

What inspired you all to get into music?  Don, the guitar player, I heard "Johnny B Goode" Jimi Hendrix version. Then he heard the "Star Spangled Banner." That sealed the deal!

Jackie, I grew up in the Church singing and has always loved good music.

Major, the drummer, I grew up always listening to music. My first set of drums was a toy Remco set at 10 years old, didn’t have much interest at that age. By 12 years of age, Bootsy Collins was practicing across the street and I said that is what I want to do so I ask my father for a set of Drums, he bought me a guitar. So, I waited for Xmas that year and he bought me a minibike. Another year passed and I got the drums. He told me if I wanted them that bad, you will practice two hours every day even Sundays.  2 hours turned into 4, 4 to 6, 6 to 8.  After a year I started my 1st band, and we had a 7-year run.

 Danny, the bass player, I just loved the rhythm of it, music is like a movement.  Just the rhythm of music is like a heartbeat.

How did the group get together? Major, who is the drummer called me, Don (guitar player), and when the bass player quit, I called Danny (Bass). The singer quit; Danny called Jackie (Singer). The rest is history. 

What is a songwriting session like for you? It varies. Typically, it’s not planned. We just get together, somebody has a new idea, and we all just contribute. Sometimes it works and then the next thing you know, we have a new original song. It is a blast!

What inspires you to create? The love of music, if I hear something that catches my ear, I am creating from what I hear. So, every time we get together, even if we’re just warming up, I'll create something, after practice, it can become a song, says Don, (guitar player).  For me, as the singer/songwriter, it can be a story that I want to tell, it can be a song that they have created, and it inspires me to add vocals. It varies.

What is your local music scene like? Lot of bars, venues, and bands.

Do you collaborate with other artists? No, we have not but as a group we are open to it. As individual artist we do not.

Before Covid19, did you perform live often? Yes.

What can we expect from you in the future? Our second project of original music.
